The trail from Lower Macleay Park to Pittock Mansion is one of the most significant urban hikes In Forest Park. The five-mile round trip path takes hikers from city streets into a peaceful forest and to an iconic places of Portland history.

Beginning at the Lower Macleay Park Trailhead, just 1.5 mile walk from our place the trail instantly takes you deep into the marvels of Forest Park. Here, the trail connects with the Wildwood Trail before ascending to Upper Macleay Park. Leafy foliage and many green shades define much of the settings as the trail climbs around 900 feet of elevation along the route.

Washington Park Loop Hike

Washington Park Loop is a 4-mile hike. This path follows the most popular and beautiful trails in Washington Park to connect users with all the major sites and attractions within the area. This is a great walk for the family as it includes the Zoo and stunning Japanese Gardens, and Portland's renowned Rose Test Gardens. The Wildwood Trail is one of the best trails in all of Washington Park.

Leaf Erikson Trailhead

 Leif Erikson Trailhead on Thurman Lane, you’ll be able to walk, run, or bike up Thurman Lane, discovering Forest Park while traveling over one of the most popular routes. You will be able to welcome the slight incline over the next 10.3 miles or cut off at one of the many popular connector trails along the way.  This hike can be access from our place by walking west on NW Thurman to the trail head.

Hiking on Leif Erickson trail beginning from the trail head at the end of Thurman it is .3 miles to the Wild Cherry Trail, .9 miles to the Dogwood Trail, and 1.4 miles to the Alder Trail. You can reach the Wildwood Trail by hiking west on any of these connectors, creating loops of varying experiences. You can expect 250 - 550ft of elevation gain, depending on the route you create for yourself!
