Portland International Rose Garden

Portland, the “City of Roses” because our climate creates perfect growing conditions for the most beautiful roses which is prominent in the Portland Rose Garden.  Originally started in 1915 by Jesses Currey the rose garden was created to preserve roses susceptible to destruction during World War l for hybrid roses grown in Europe.  It is the oldest continuously operating public rose test garden in the United States.

Visiting our Rose Garden is stunning with rows and rows of every kind and shape of roses imaginable through this magical garden.  There are over 10,000 rose buses of approximately 650 varieties.  The roses bloom from April through October with the peak coming in June, depending on the weather.

Portland International Rose Garden is listed as one of the top things to do and see while visiting Portland with more than approximately 700,000 visitors annually.
